Issue 19, was a special one for me. Continuing on a theme for each issue started with issue 18 being Steampunk, issue 19 was to be the 'Vamp' issue. An idea came to me to create a fashion spread with each page emulating a popular vampire movie of the past and present. An ambitious shoot for a magazine with zero resources, but that didnt stop the editor to give it the go ahead. I was to photograph and art direct the shoot. Doubt about achieving it was always there, again due to the magazines zero budget for photoshoots.

We decided on the movies to get inspiration, the clothing designs and models to use. The shoot was to be done all in the one day making the task ever so more ambitious. Locations was minimized to a city underground carpark, a hall way for the 'studio' shoot and a near by alley way. given the amount of clothing and makeup changes, keeping everything in proximity was the only way to go.

We began at 9am and finished just after 10.30pm. A colossal effort by all involved, with some stunning results. We shot the cover for issue 19 that day as well. I was after a simple yet striking portrait with moody lighting that will instantly get your attention. There was a little post production grading to the image, but essentially what you see wasnt far off what we shot on the day.

My first published cover photograph and fashion spread all in one hit and I was very happy with the result.
